cruising all day

We cruised all day today covering about 150 miles starting the day at going through the largest locks on the danube with 6 hydraulic pumps. We went through two levels to get high enough. This whole process took 1.5 hrs.

We would spend the day along the most beautiful section of the river. The iron gate gorge situated in Djerdap River national park. On the north side are the Carpathia mountains and on the south are the Balkan Mountains. Some of that time it poured rain but we saw some cool sites, a large stone carved head, a monastery and in Serbia the ruins of a Golubac Fortress, Babalaja Rock

Hanging out with our ship friend for the morning and lunch was tons of fun. more great stories.

Before today the shoreline was ugly with many shut down factories right on the river edge from the Communist  times in Romania and Bulgaria

we were tired from a late night and had the luxury of a nap before dinner. after we ate there was Rinda's got talent as dippy as it sounds but we got a good laugh when one woman sang a christmas song in chipmunk. and tonight the time goes back an hour since we are now in Serbia. In the morning we will be in Belgrade.
