croatia

a leisurely  morning on Wednesday our tour manager told the story of his life growing up in Bulgaria actually interesting he was a famous drummer in a band called atlas but did not make a living doing that so he became a tour guide.  We were sailing along to Croatia to travel through the city of Vulkovar which was almost flattened during the war in the 1990's.  Some of the buildings were filled with bullet holes but the country offered money based on occupancy for rebuilding.  We traveled to a small village of Osijek and stopped at a home to hear some local fishing trade stories.  The home owner there was super corny but the general crowd on our tour laughed at his jokes.  The better part of the day was the city with in the walls of a fortress. there were schools, churches, restaurants etc. We went to a church and heard a very nice singing concert by a local woman. There was even a small Holocaust   memorial at the church.
