Berlin again and Munich

The day was long and we had to pack so again a double entry. Sunday we went to the Jewish museum by way of the bus. It is an unusual architecure, zig zagging along, meant to make you feel off balance. Also in a garden of exile cobble on the ground and tall concrete pillar walls all tipped and olive trees all around. Meant to make you feel that escape had promise but you never had a feeling of balance and a peaceful home. It was set up as exile, holicost and continuity. There were many examples of Jewish life. Many german Jews mad a big impact on our current life. Levi strauss, mendelsshon,Albert einstein, playwrites, poets and many others. There was a great variety of people touring the museum. It was a nice touch to have the German perspective from our friends. Tons of stories. We have enjoyed getting to know them better and changed our plans to spend a night in their town town.

Off to lunch at the Sony center. Australian food, bad service but a nice location. Bowling for Jim and Jesse and a little souvenier shopping for all. The rest of us had ice cream nag conversation.
Our last night in Berlin we had Turkish food with them and the kids stayed behind and ate on their own.

Monday We got up early and hopped a bus to the airport. Munich and now we have a car. It was not that easy to find our way to the city but at the very end we had the help of a very expressive German speeking pizza guy to direct us the last few blocks. We are in a classic Munich hotel a 10 minute walk to the old part of the city. We are lunch in the most famous beer hall hofbrau house. A very classic place for beer and food. Jim and Jesse went to the park to see the river with actual surfers. Jesse hopped in and had fun. Emily and I listened to the 5 pm chimes at the marienplatz new town hall glockenspiel show .. With all the hundreds of other tourists. Then she tried on typical octoberfest dresses. Tons of fun except it was very hot! Maybe if you ask her she will model the one she got.
