Poland- Wroclaw
After 24 hours of travel, we finally arrived at the small Wroclaw airport. Even though I only slept around 4 hours, I was feeling good. After baggage claim, we found our tour guide Isabela and drove into town. The city is made of several parts: there is a central square called old town surrounded by other old buildings and shops. This section is separated by canals and a river, and on the outside is the rest of the city. Our hotel is connected to a mall, so of course, that's the first place everyone went. The prices are a little cheaper here. I bought cool socks for the equivalent of $2 and a pair of red shoes. Also, I got some banana nectar and ketchup flavored Cheetos. After the mall, we walked into old town, and I forgot my camera (and then forgot it again when we went out for dinner). The city kind of has a Munich vibe, but you can tell we are in Eastern Europe. We had dinner in Old Town and had perogies (spelling?) and chicken w/ Spinach in it. Afterwards, we went in this fenced off section for the Euro cup. In it were a bunch of screens to watch the soccer quarterfinal match b/w Germany and Italy. With a group of guys, we went through security and went into the "fan zone" and watched the game with the Polish Wroclawnians. It was a good game, but a bit boring. Go Italy!!
So far the trip is good. I probably should have learned Polish, but I've gotten by so far. The hotel is really nice, and the rumors about Polish girls are true ; )
Hope everyone's doing well in London and back in America!
