 Hi Anne

 garden dinner with Antoine

Ok it is Laurie now on day two which seems like eternity. First off we are thrilled to get word from Jesse! It is so cool to feel connected from our different parts of the world. Today we started off with a tradional English breakfast. I had porridge and Jim full breakfast. And by the way yesterday when we had our break from the bike tour we had typical English food at a pub along with a tall cold tap beer.(not Emily) Jim had toad in a hole which is Yorkshire pudding with sausage. And I had a pie with slow cooked beef and mushrooms. That was enough for us for true Engish food. We finally set off for the day via the tube (subway) to the Globe theatre by the Thames river and the London tower bridge. By the way the bridge had the Olympic symbol hanging from it which looked cool. The Globe theatre tour was very nice. This is the theatre (rebuilt of course) where while Shakespeare was alive her wrote and acted in his plays. Emily got a Shakespeare quote bag. The museum part had costumes, instruments and tons of background history. Time to shake a leg and pick up our bags to go to Gatwick airport to head toward bordeaux. The tube and then train and a small flight delay. Happily upon our arrival we were greeted by the smiling faces of Anne and her dad Antoine. They took us to the city to their quite spectacular home. We met Anne's sister and boyfriend and shared a toast of champaign. They set out and we were served a French style dinner which is far more amazing than English food. Duck, salad, cheese, bread , wine and more. Emily is now out at a end of the school year party. Very brave of her since likely all in French. Not everyone will be as amazing with English as this family. Off to a long awaited good night sleep.
